Consultancies during Covid-19 pandemic

This blog describes Karin van den Belt, a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning consultant, adapting her work to digital tools during the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially resistant to technology, she preferred in-person interactions, finding traditional meetings, workshops, and face-to-face collaborations more effective. However, the lockdown and restrictions on physical meetings forced her to shift entirely online, facing challenges with the slower pace and lack of personal contact.

As she adjusted, a friend introduced her to digital tools that allowed her to facilitate workshops remotely. She discovered new capabilities in platforms like Zoom, using features like the digital whiteboard for collaborative brainstorming and breakout rooms for small group discussions. Another tool, Mural, provided advanced visual options, enabling participants to work on digital flipcharts and share insights in real-time. With Mural’s focus on visual presentation, it quickly became a valuable addition to her digital toolkit. Ultimately, the experience helped her embrace digital solutions for her consultancy work, enhancing her ability to adapt and continue meaningful engagements remotely.
