Project description

Defence for Children promotes children’s rights in the Netherlands and beyond, based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Defence for Children was founded in 1989 and is part of two international networks: Defence for Children International (DCI) and ECPAT International (ECPAT). DCI consists of 38 national sections and affiliated members. ECPAT is a network of 122 organizations in 104 countries that campaigns globally against the sexual exploitation of children.

The consultancy consisted of developing a results matrix and the implementation of a MEL framework. Indicators were defined and data collection tools were designed and implemented. A training was conducted for DCI staff to learn the basics of MEL and get familiar with the tools.

Project Scope:

The consultancy support Defence for Children as an organisation and the monitoring, evaluation and learning system was aligned with their multi-annual strategic plan.

Result:

Overall, this assignment led to a stronger organization with better tools for measuring its impact, improving its programs, and advancing the cause of children’s rights globally. More specifically, by developing a results matrix and implementing a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework, Defence for Children now has a structured approach to measuring the impact of their work and ensuring accountability. This potentially leads to improved programme effectiveness, increased accountability and transparency and enhanced MEL capacity of staff.
